I heard of kefir about 6 months ago while I was reading books, articles, and anything I could get my hands or fingers on about eating. There’s a starter mix you can buy at Natural Kitchen in KW or probably other health food stores. I purchased mine and it’s still sitting in my fridge until I get enough courage to try it!
So, I bought the plain kefir from Lifeway at the Kroger in Conroe. LOVE THAT STORE and so excited we’re getting our own in Kingwood!!! We drink it in smoothies, in place of sour cream, as a yogurt and add raisins, honey and walnuts, or in a mug in the morning. It has live and active kefir cultures so it helps balance digestive system and it’s 99% lactose free if you need that and no artificial growth hormones and GMO FREE!
They have other flavors but we stick with the plain and unsweetened and just add fruit if we want the other flavors with it. Visit www.kefir.com for more info and try it.
I also found this Lifeway dry curd farmer’s cheese and really like it also. It’s kindof like a ricotta taste. I caught myself grabbing spoonful here and there and it’s yummy.
