It was a rushed Monday night (aren’t they all?!) and I had less than 15 minutes to be out the door and on my way to a meeting.
What’s a mom of three children and a new puppy to do?! As always, I underestimated the time my errands, emails, calls and dinner would take and found myself in a frenzy to round up the kiddos and the stress started mounting. I glanced at my watch and made a game plan to be punctual as I’m on the board and actually needed to be a bit early! AHHHHHH
So I make a b-line for the bathroom and into the shower and realize I HAVE to wash my hair. DOUBLE AHHHH! I have naturally curly hair and it definitely has a mind of its own! SO, anywho, I’m washing my hair and my multi-tasking mama skills take over and I begin running through the closet in my mind so not to waste one precious moment.
Once I was bathed and dried, I moved into my closet and quickly chose an outfit fitting for the meeting and weather. Since my closet was FINALLY organized, I could see all of my in season clothes, shoes and most of my jewelry and was able to choose flats that complimented my outfit and top it off with a super cute necklace I bought while in New York (we women love a story behind an accessory), watch, ring, bracelet and handbag.
While this is all going on, my hair is drying a bit, and I then brushed my teeth and moisturized my face, hands, and legs. Minutes later I add a bit of product to my hair and take a few more to add some powder, blush, bit of eyeliner, touch of eye shadow, mascara and gloss. Quick glance on my phone and I know it’s gonna be close but see light at the end of the tunnel.
My hair is air dried so I just go back and take another two minutes to blow dry my hair just a bit. This is one good thing about my crazy curly hair. Natural and low maintenance. A definite MUST for this busy mama’s lifestyle!
At this point, I’m calling through the house from my bathroom to alert the girls to go to the restroom, wash hands, open garage door and start loading up into the van. This process, though simple, can take awhile with three girls and any bit of a head start helps!
They start Operation On Time, I add a spritz of perfume, put Chelsea (the puppy) up, turn off all the lights, grab my iphone, set the alarm, pack my awesome Erin Condren planner (look for link on site to order yours) and DASH out the door and into the van to the meeting. Sigh…deep breath and I’m on way with three minutes to spare. Whew! Organization saved the day!
